Theremon 762, a young newspaperman, has spent the last two months ridiculing the Director of Saro University, Aton 77, and his fellow astronomers, in his newspaper column. The planet Lagash seems to be on the brink of a catastrophic event that will end civilization, as its inhabitants know it.
